Romantic Rooftop Proposal at The St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio | Ron & Jess Engagement

St. Anthony Rooftop Engagement

There’s something timeless and romantic about a proposal in downtown San Antonio, and Ron planned the perfect surprise for Jess at the beautiful The St. Anthony Hotel.

With a stunning rooftop view, candlelit setup, and a gorgeous sunset, this engagement session was one of the most unforgettable proposal moments I’ve had the honor of photographing.

If you’re planning a San Antonio proposal, engagement session, or wedding portraits, The St. Anthony Hotel is one of the most elegant and unique locations in the city. Looking to book photos for an engagement? Contact Below!

Proposal Setup by Divine Events NB by Paola

Ron wanted the moment to feel extra special, so he hired Divine Events NB by Paola to create the proposal setup, and she did an amazing job.

The rooftop was decorated with a romantic heart arrangement surrounded by candles, creating the perfect setting for the big moment. Paola is always wonderful to work with and offers a variety of setups for proposals, engagements, weddings, and special events. Whether you want something simple and elegant or a full luxury design, she has so many options that make planning stress free.

Having a professional event designer for a proposal makes a huge difference, especially at a location like The St. Anthony where everything needs to be coordinated ahead of time.

Do You Need a Permit to Take Photos at The St. Anthony Hotel?

One thing to know when planning a proposal or photo session at The St. Anthony Hotel is that the property does require a photography permit. At the time of this session, the permit fee was $1,000, which allows access to areas of the hotel for professional photography.

While that may sound like a lot, the historic architecture, rooftop views, and luxury atmosphere make it one of the most beautiful places in San Antonio for engagement photos, proposals, and wedding portraits. If you’re looking for a location that feels classy, romantic, and different from the typical park setting, this venue is absolutely worth it.

Rooftop Sunset Proposal in Downtown San Antonio

We timed everything so that the proposal would happen right at sunset on the rooftop of The St. Anthony Hotel, and the lighting could not have been more perfect. The sky had that soft golden glow, and the candles added such a romantic feel to the entire moment.

Jess had no idea what was about to happen. As they walked onto the rooftop and she saw the setup, the emotion on her face said everything. Ron got down on one knee, asked the big question, and she said yes! Moments like this are exactly why I love photographing proposals. They’re real, emotional, and completely unforgettable.

Engagement Photos Around The St. Anthony Hotel

After the proposal, we were able to take engagement photos around the hotel, including the rooftop, hallways, and near the bar area downstairs. One of the things I love about shooting at The St. Anthony is that even though it’s a luxury hotel in the middle of downtown San Antonio, the atmosphere always feels welcoming.

There wasn’t much of a crowd that evening, and everyone we ran into was friendly and excited for the couple, which made the experience even better. Locations like this give such a classy and timeless look to photos, especially for couples who want something different from outdoor park sessions.

Champagne Celebration After the Proposal

To celebrate, The Hotel Provided a bottle of champagne for Ron and Jess. They spent the rest of the evening enjoying the moment together. They danced, laughed, and soaked in the excitement of being newly engaged while I captured some of my favorite candid photos of the night.

These are always my favorite parts of proposal sessions, after the nerves are gone and the couple can just be themselves. The joy, the smiles, and the little in-between moments always end up being the most meaningful photos.
